Long Bio (100 words)

Emmett Cross is a horror fiction author whose work explores the intersection of rural American decline and ancient supernatural forces. His debut novel, Dead Air (2026), is the first book in The Dead Frequencies series, a connected universe of novels in which ancient entities communicate through human technology. His writing has been compared to Stephen King, Paul Tremblay, and T. Kingfisher. Cross writes Appalachian gothic horror that examines what happens when isolated, economically devastated communities encounter forces they cannot explain. His work is characterized by deep character development, atmospheric dread, and a refusal to look away from the human cost of both supernatural and systemic horrors.

Book Description

Dead Air -- A dying coal town. A voice on the radio. An ancient thing beneath the mountain that knows your name. Harlow Hollow, West Virginia has nothing left but stubbornness and each other. Then the radios turn on -- not to a station, but to a voice. It calls itself Old Jack. It knows everyone's secrets. And it wants to make a deal. Nora Caldwell came home to care for her dying father, not to investigate the impossible. But the voice on the radio knows her too. The only question is whether she'll say no before Old Jack finishes what it started.
